Flinders University News

Dear Valued Partner

The start of the new teaching year in 2018 got off to a positive start, with International onshore commencing enrolments up by around 22% on 2017. Thank you for the role you played in that and we aim to ensure these students continue to feel supported throughout their time with us.

2017 was a big year for Flinders - we implemented significant changes to our academic and support structures, whilst continuing to deliver some exceptional outcomes in education and research. One of the biggest changes was the implementation of a new College model, which was designed to provide a simplified structure that would reduce barriers and encourage interdisciplinary teaching and research. I’m pleased to report there have already been numerous examples of emerging of collaborations, not just between the disciplines within each College but also across Colleges.

We expect a range of benefits to emerge for all students throughout 2018, with progress well underway towards new electronic tools to support research and online support for HDR student candidature and examination management. We also look forward to progression of the $85m extension of the Tonsley Rail Line to Flinders with the planned creation of a new Flinders University station opening in 2019.
